Bovie Medical Corp., a Melville medical equipment maker, reported a 9.4 percent rise in revenue Tuesday. The company said revenue increased to $6.73 million during the first three months of 2012. Net income fell 62 percent during the quarter, to $187,000, compared to the same period last year. Metro area consumer prices rise in April

Prices in the metropolitan area increased moderately last month, with the cost of health care, groceries and gasoline rising the most.
The federal Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Tuesday its consumer price index climbed 2.4 percent in April compared with a year ago in the 31-county region that includes Long Island. That was down from a 2.6 percent year-over-year increase in March.

Three workshops for development aid

Regular gasoline fell below $4 a gallon on Long Island over the weekend for the first time since Feb. 27, the AAA said, as crude oil prices continued to sink on strong supplies and economic worries.

Plainview-based manufacturer Kelta Inc. has agreed to acquire Tii Network Technologies, an Edgewood company that designs and produces telecommunications equipment.
