Jim Baumbach
Jim Baumbach is currently a general assignment sports reporter and columnist for Newsday. While on some days Baumbach may be covering a Mets or Yankees game, other days find him reporting from a blimp, trying out to be a U.S. Open ballperson or learning how to drive a manual transmission car ... on a NASCAR racetrack. Prior to Baumbach's current all-encompassing sports reporting position, he was Newsday's Yankees beat reporter from 2004 until 2007. He also has covered the St. John's men's basketball team as a beat, worked as a high school sports reporter and helped build Newsday.com's sports page into a 24-7 news service. A Long Island native, he makes frequent guest appearances on national radio and television stations. He has worked for Newsday since 1998.
