Hills wins third straight Suffolk badminton championship
No. 1 Half Hollow Hills (15-0) defeated No. 2 Whitman (11-4) 8-1 to win its third straight Suffolk Girls Badminton Championship. This is Hills’ third consecutive undefeated season. The Thundercolts have won 45 straight matches dating back to 2009.

Brunoforte vaults to Long Island record

St. Anthony's senior Mike Brunoforte set a Long Island pole vault record Saturday in the Loucks games at White Plains with a jump of 16 feet, one inch.
Brunoforte is only the second Long Islander in history to clear 16 feet, according to pole vault coach Jim Henderson. Nick David of Mount Sinai had the old Long Island record of 16-0 in 2007.

Elmont's Valencia Hannon won the 100-meter dash at the Glenn D. Loucks Games on Friday in a wind-aided time of 11.81 seconds.
It's a school record for Hannon, who shattered her previous mark of 11.87 set at the Federation championship last spring, coach Mike Graham told Newsday.
